LEAGUE AVAILABILITY

Please see the attached challenge sheet. Ambre will be recording all the challenges
and will update the ladder (electronically) immediately after the results and ensure
that the latest ladder is up on the board on Saturdays.

Just a reminder that the closing date for challenges is this Sat (17 July) at end of play.

Please help us by ensuring your guests pay the visitor fees
The money that is collected will all be ploughed back into tennis

Saturdays : R30 for first 2 weeks and then R60 thereafter

Weekdays and Sundays per hour:
All non members :                 R80 per court 
Under lights :                         R200 per court

Playing with a member :       R20 per 1 visitor
Under lights :                         R50 per visitor

TENNIS CALENDAR

 Saturday afternoon mixed and doubles social from 13h00 till dark.
An Adult Beginner & Junior court is available.

Monday evening singles social is available to all players.
Remember to book your spot by contacting the social owners.
Etienne Coetzee has initiated and taken ownership of the Mon pm singles portfolio.
This has been well supported and is great fun. Come and join us.
Please email (etienne.coetsee@gmail.com) or sms (082 824 8719)
Etienne by Friday evening if you wish to be included on the following Monday.
Also kindly let him know from what time you are able to play.
Please do not arrive without booking your place on Fridays.
Depending on the number of players on an evening, a minimum of 2 ‘matches’
consisting of 9 games will be played. Your entrance fee is 1 new Tecnifibre ball.
If you forget to bring a ball, you may purchase one for R20 !
Visitors are welcome and will pay a visitor’s fee of R30 for the evening.
Should you wish to improve your position on the ladder, the results of
Monday evening will not be taken into account as a formal challenge is required.
Challenges are played on a Saturday between 13h00 and 14h00.

Thursday evening mixed social will also commence from next week.

Alta Smith has taken ownership of this portfolio.
Lynnette Jinks will stand in for Alta for 3 weeks while she is away.
Please note that the same rules apply as for Monday evenings.

The Squads with Michael de Jong as guest coach and Andri Tiran
will last for 4 weeks and there will be 4 squads per annum.
The next squads dates will be advised shortly.
These squads focus on fundamentals, consistency and technique
Cost: R200 for 4 weeks, Guaranteed 3 sessions
Visitors R70 per evening; Time: 17:30 for 18:00 -20:00; Book at irenetennis@gmail.com

The Mixed and Mens league will commence on 1 and 2 May respectively.

The next event to take place this year is the Woody Tournament run by Andri.
This is a fun tournament played with wooden tennis racquets.
It will be held on 20 June. A braai and prize giving will conclude this event.

Irene Country Club and  Bryanston Country Club have been invited
by the Pretoria Country Club to celebrate a 100 years existence on 24 July.
Details to follow.

Don’t forget about the Quiz evening on the last Friday night of every month.
Please come and add your knowledge and support the tennis section.

JUNIOR POLICY

The policy of the club relating to juniors is as follows :
A junior who wishes to play with the adults on a Saturday must be screened

by the coaches on a Friday during squad practice.

The coach then submits the junior’s name to the committee.

The committee will then decide whether the tennis is of an acceptable standard

and whether the junior is mature enough to be regarded as an adult member.
Until this procedure has taken its course, all juniors may join in with the adults from 16h00.
